A three-year UIC study aims to increase what we know about young black males and their experiences as victims of violence. Black males are disproportionately impacted by violence and it often causes their disability or death, according to the Department of Justice and American Journal of Health. "To help change that, we need to learn more about what happens, how often it happens, and how many people are impacted," says Henrika McCoy, UIC associate professor of social work. McCoy can comment on her study.
