Dr. Samuel Dorevitch, associate professor of environmental and occupational health sciences in the UIC School of Public Health, and a team of his students have partnered with the Chicago Park District to help provide rapid water testing at 20 beaches every day this summer. The tests measure levels of DNA of bacteria that can cause gastrointestinal illness. The rapid testing offers same-day results, unlike previously used methods that require 24 hours to yield information.

She can discuss historical and ongoing issues around funding for CPS, racial discrimination in schools and teacher union matters.
