JACSW Financial Support Request

JACSW NEED BASED FINANCIAl SUPPORT APPLICATION

Part One: College Policies and Practices

1.  Students have the primary responsibility for financing their graduate education and should be prepared to do so if they do not receive financial support from the College or an external source.

2.  Applicants should read the statement of financing graduate education found on the College’s website at http://www.uic.edu/jaddams/college/programs/msw/files/Fall2013/FinancingGradEducationMSW.pdf.

3.  Persons admitted to the MSW Program should understand that the majority of financial support provided by the College is need based.   Therefore, all admitted students interested in financial support  will be asked to provide specific information that will enable the College to distribute need based awards as objectively as possible.   All applicants should note also that some financial support provided by the College is determined by the field placement obtained by students.   Field related awards are determined during the field placement process.

4.  American citizens or permanent residents admitted to the MSW Program should submit, if possible, their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by the UIC priority deadline of March 1.

5.  International students, in their first year of graduate study, must submit to the Office of International Student Services a statement of guarantee that they have sufficient funds to cover all expenses related to their first year of graduate study.

6.  Most of the financial support provided by the College requires individuals to be registered in 12 or more semester hours.   Consequently PM-Extended Study students in their  first and second year are not eligible for most financial support provided by the College.

7.  MSW students interested in receiving need based financial support must submit between April 15 and  May 31 their application for financial support . Submission of an application does not guarantee financial support will be awarded.  Normally persons who will receive need based financial support will be informed  in June prior to the start of classes.
